Web 2.0 Tool: Canva

I discovered a very useful Web 2.0 tool than can be used in the classroom!  The website is called Canva and is essentially an online design program that makes designing posters, pictures, business cards, and other types of print extremely easy and aesthetic.  This website is free to use, but you are able to purchase extra features.  The features available to you for free are extremely effective though!  An excellent resource for in our out of the classroom.  Click here to see a video tutorial I made covering the basics of the website.

Now that I've told you a little bit about Canva and how it works, one key feature that I want to point out is the fact that you can add a graph or chart to your project.  Under "elements" on the tool bar located on the left side of the screen, a handful of creative features are at your fingertips.  Click on "Charts" in the bottom row to display all of the options available to use.  Line graphs, bar graphs, comparison charts, and pie charts are easy to add to your creation.  You could use this feature to promote a class average, show test scores, and compare major themes or topics in your class on social media. This tool is also a helpful math or science tool for when students need to get creative on their presentations or lab reports.
As you can see, Canva is a resource that hold inspiration for thousands of creations.  Whether you are a teacher or a student, using Canva is a fun and easy way to work on reading, writing, and all the elements of graphic design beyond the templates that Microsoft Word or Google Docs can offer.  Go check out Canva and start designing!
