Breakfast = Success

If you are anything like me, you are going to want to start your morning out the same way everyday: with breakfast.  I am advocate for breakfast!  Did you know that 25% of Americans choose to skip out on breakfast everyday?

I'm not just saying this because breakfast foods are my all-time favorite foods (because who doesn't love pancakes, bagels, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage and all of those oh so delectable pastries Americans consider breakfast?) ... Your body needs breakfast to function properly!

Eating breakfast will:

  • Boost your metabolism
  • Sharpen concentration
  • Improve cholesterol levels
  • Boosts short-term memory
  • Reduces morning blues
Sounds like a perfect list for an educator to be ready to teach their classroom every morning.  I encourage teachers to eat breakfast for the sake of your students!  Push your students to eat breakfast too.  Maybe they won't end up falling asleep in your classroom.

Breakfast should account for about 1/5th of your daily intake of allotted calories.  As much as I love a big Smörgåsbord breakfast, the key to a successful breakfast is a well balanced one.  This includes a lean protein (egg whites, turkey sausage, nuts), carbs (whole grains, oats), fruit (have your pick!).  A simple Pinterest search for "well balanced breakfasts" should give you enough ideas for a lifetime of breakfasts!  It pains me to say Poptarts and sugary cereal don't fit the description!

As a future educator I love researching simple lifestyle changes that can have a positive impact on your day.  Breakfast is a major key to success!

Rise and shine!  Or should I say "rise and dine!"
